January events in Mallorca
With glorious sunshine and balmy temperatures, where else could be better to kick start the new year than on the beautiful island of Mallorca. Here, the festivities are still in full swing, with a great variety of things to keep you in high spirits and inspire your resolutions for the new year.
Cavalcada dels Reis Mags (Three Kings Celebration)
The Spanish always saved their present giving and celebrating to mark Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas. On the eve of the Epiphany, 5th January, the Kings (the three wise men who followed a star to find the baby Jesus) form part of a procession of floats through many towns in Mallorca. The biggest and most extravagant being in Palma city centre from 18:00. Remember that 6th January is a public holiday in Spain. Dates & details.
Sant Antoni Festival
Sant Antoni is the patron saint of animals and jobs connected to rural life. Some towns celebrate this saint with a local holiday and fun parades and street parties. Dates & details.
Festes de Sant Sebastiá, Palma
This is one of Palma's biggest festivals of the year. Sant Sebastiá is the city's patron saint, and a variety of recreational activities are held in his honour. The city comes to life with the squares hosting bonfires and concerts late into the evening. There is also a traditional 'correfoc' that sees more street parties as locals dressed as devils take part in the famous fire runs. Dates & details.
February events in Mallorca
As well as traditional fiestas, live music and international cuisine, with Valentine’s Day this month the island’s charms provide all the perfect ingredients for a romantic escape and there is a wealth of activities and events on offer, where one can soak up the alluring Mallorcan spirit.
Almond Blossom Fair, Son Servera
Mallorca’s almond blossom is a big attraction from late January through to spring. The fair, known to the locals as 'Fira de la Flor d’Ametler' is held in the grounds of Ses Cases de Ca s’Hereu, a finca in the old town of Son Servera. Dates & details.
Sa Rua (Mallorca’s Carnival)
This Carnival is celebrated the last days before Lent when Christians are allowed to indulge in pleasurable activities. It is a mix of games and processions of decorated floats and takes place in Palma and elsewhere on the island. Dates & details.
March events in Mallorca
March has officially arrived, bringing beautiful blue skies and glorious sunshine, providing the perfect excuse to get out and explore the island.
Day of the Balearic Islands
1st March commemorates the date the Balearic Islands' Statute of Autonomy came into effect in 1983. Expect concerts, fairs and parties around the island. Dates & details.
Fira del Fang (Pottery Fair), Marratxí
Every year, Marratxí hosts a week-long pottery fair, where you can find demonstrations of traditional pottery and ceramic methods and buy a range of goods at reasonable prices. Other entertainments also form part of the fair. Dates & details.
Spring Festivals

April events in Mallorca
From traditional fiestas to sporting events, April provides endless opportunities for fun and enjoyment.
Fira d’Andratx
This agricultural fair involves cattle, with ecological products and local breeds. Expect contests, exhibitions, trades, championships of local bird species and Spanish food stalls. Dates & details.
Semana Santa (Easter Celebrations)
The triumphant arrival of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem is acknowledged throughout Mallorca, starting with blessings on Palm Sunday and parades throughout the week. Easter Thursday sees the biggest parades to celebrate Easter, with the most colourful being in Palma de Mallorca. Good Friday is the day when many churches hold special services where local children and youth groups perform scenes from the bible to commemorate the death and rebirth of Jesus. On Easter Sunday, churches throughout Mallorca hold special services. The following days see 'pancaritats' held; these are pilgrimages to Mallorca's shrines and hermitages, which are followed by mass picnics.
Palma International Boat Show
A must for nautical enthusiasts, this boat show takes place in the wonderful setting of Palma's marina, in front of the cathedral. The exhibits are more for the professionals but anyone can access the marina (for a fee) and soak up the atmosphere. Dates & details.
Mallorca 312
The island's most popular cycling race, and the most challenging, takes riders through the Serra de Tramuntana's gruelling climbs offering stunning views of the mountains and the sea. With 312 kilometres and 5,050 metres to climb, this is not for the faint-hearted. There are also shorter distances to choose from. Dates & details.

May events in Mallorca
May is one of the most delightful months of the year in Mallorca, providing a mouth-watering taste of the impending summer season. Its arrival brings warm weather and a real sense of vibrancy to the island, with an array of fantastic activities and events on offer.
IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca, Alcúdia
This sporting event returns to Mallorca with more than 3,500 international athletes coming to compete in one of the island's most gruelling challenges. Dates & details.
Es Firó (Moors vs Christians Festival), Sóller
Sóller's great mock battle between the invading Moorish pirates and the plucky defending Christian villagers is one of the highlights of the year. Expect firecrackers, plenty of fancy dress and street parties that carry on through the night. Dates & details.
Medieval Fair, Capdepera
On the third weekend in May, you can transport yourself back to 'ye olden days' and enjoy this wonderful fair and market in the medieval old town of Capdepera, in the northeast of Mallorca. With traditional costumes and music, there are stalls aplenty selling food, trinkets or arts & crafts, as well as street entertainers. Dates & details.
Spring Fairs
Mallorca's rural towns continue to celebrate their agricultural heritage with Spring Fairs held during the weekends throughout May. Markets, livestock shows and family entertainments are on offer. Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for these.
June events in Mallorca
June is one of the most glorious months in Mallorca thanks to its beautiful warming climate and magnetic energy that is spread across the island. With a wealth of incredible activities and events on offer, you will be well and truly spoilt for fantastic things to do.
Summer season starts
This is when the beach clubs and clubs start to open in Mallorca. The beach resorts of Magaluf, Alcúdia and Playa de Palma see an increase in holidaymakers and start to organise special events. The BH Mallorca Hotel concerts begin at this time – every Tuesday night sees a big rock or electronic music star name perform, lasting until September.
WTA Mallorca Women's Tennis Open, Santa Ponça
With five natural grass courts, the international competition in Santa Ponça is set to be high and will bring some of the biggest names in women's tennis to Mallorca. Dates & details.
Nit del Foc, Palma
One of the most popular festivals in Palma de Mallorca, the 'Nit de Foc' or Night of Fire, takes place on the eve of Midsummer. The huge bonfires and fireworks displays, held each year in the Parc de la Mar and many of the island's beaches, mark the beginning of Mallorca's summer fiestas. Dates & details.
Sant Joan Festival
On this day, the locals celebrate Sant Joan (John the Baptist) along with the summer solstice throughout Mallorca with a bank holiday. Dates & details.

July events in Mallorca
Summer has officially descended on the island this month, with sizzling temperatures and countless opportunities to experience a magical escape to Mallorca. Drenched in hot and glorious sunshine, beach days are incredibly special while nights are filled with thousands of party revellers.
Inca Jazz Festival
Free jazz concerts – with voluntary donations for charity – are offered throughout July at the charming town of Inca. Dates & details.
Deià International Music Festival

Bellver Castle Music Festival, Palma
Every summer, the city of Palma organises the Bellver Castle Music Festival in the unrivalled setting of the round courtyard in the Bellver Castle, one of the city’s most beautiful and historic buildings. Dates & details.
Verge del Carme
A fishermen's fiesta with celebrations dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen patron saint of fishermen. Try Port de Pollença or Porto Cristo for their extensive programmes in the week leading up to the 16th July. Dates & details.
Sant Jaume
Fiestas held throughout the island around this date feature concerts, theatre, exhibitions, religious ceremonies and fireworks. Try Alcúdia or Manacor’s celebrations.
Copa del Rey Sailing Regatta, Palma
An important sailing regatta in the Mediterranean where you will see some of the finest sailing yachts in the world racing around the bay of Palma. You might even be able to see the King of Spain at the helm of one of them. Dates & details.
Artdemossa Fair, Valldemossa
Normally held in late July, at Artdemossa you can find musical performances, artisan displays, paintings, sculpture, photography, dance and plenty of food and drink stalls. Dates & details.
La Patrona Festival, Pollença
An ancient civic-religious celebration. Cannon shots, fireworks and bell ringing mark the beginning of the festival which will carry on until the beginning of August, ending with the mock battle between Moors and Christians in Pollença town. Dates & details.
Night Markets
July sees the start of the real holiday season and many of the beach resorts will start to host night markets where you can browse for souvenirs, trinkets and arts and crafts. Try La Llonja in Palma, Playa de Muro and Porto Cristo.
August events in Mallorca
August marks the peak of the summer season, which means that there are endless opportunities for fun and enjoyment in every visit to the island. This month, Mallorca is entranced with vibrant energy as an electric atmosphere fills the island with joy.
Battle between Moors and Christians, Pollença
In Pollença, a mock battle takes place between local hero Joan Mas and the pirate invaders (the Moors) led by Dragut Rais. This is part of the popular La Patrona fiesta. Dates & details.
Sa Pobla Jazz Festival
One of Mallorca’s smallest towns has drawn jazz legends from far and wide to this event for 25 years. A cross section of styles from the jazz world, and all for free. Dates & details.
Pollença Classical Music and Arts Festival
This event is known internationally across the classical music festival circuit and forms part of the European Festival Association. The programme includes prominent orchestras and well-known soloists, choirs and opera singers. Dates & details.
Chopin Classical Music Festival, Valldemossa
This classical music festival dates back to the 1930s. You can look forward to a series of concerts every Sunday throughout August in the quaint town of Valldemossa. Dates & details.
Open Air Cinema Screenings, Palma
Parc de la Mar in Palma turns into a large open-air cinema by the Mediterranean sea, with the cathedral as the perfect backdrop. The programme includes films in English. Dates & details.
Annual Village Fiestas
Many of the smaller villages hold their annual fiestas in August. Some of the most popular are the Festes de la Mare de Deu d'Agost in C'an Picafort – a summer festival on the beach, with fireworks and a bizarre rubber duck release on the sea; the Festes de Sant Bartomeu in Montuiri – one of the oldest on the island featuring devil dancing – and Valldemossa; the Festes de Sant Agustí – summer festival with parties, a night of art, fireworks and a 'correfoc' (fire run) as well as Cavallet dances in Felanitx, with children dressed up as cardboard horses being chased to the accompaniment of bagpipes, flutes and drums; or the Festes de Sant Jordi taking place around the main square in Colonia de Sant Jordi. Festes del Rei en Jaume, Santa Ponça

The town of Santa Margalida honours its patron saint, Catalina Tomás, with a weekend of celebrations commemorating her beatification by Pope Pius VI. Dates & details.

Fiesta d'Es Vermar, Binissalem
The wine-growing village of Binissalem holds the Sa Vermar Festival to celebrate the grape harvest. Events include a grape treading contest, a giant paella, mass village dinners in the town square, music performances, a giants parade and the infamous grape fight (compulsory to wear white!). November events in Mallorca

December events in Mallorca
December is one of the loveliest months of the year in Mallorca, as the island is overcome with a contagious festive cheer. With Christmas and New Year is just around the corner, a real sense of magic fills the air as dazzling lights illuminate the streets.
Partridge and Agricultural Fair, Montuiri
An excellent fair in Montuiri featuring game and in particular the partridge. Perfect for some early Christmas dinner shopping. Dates & details.
Nadal (Christmas)
Families in Mallorca celebrate Christmas as we know it. Midnight mass on Christmas Eve is very popular with the locals. The traditional (and UNESCO protected) song of the Sibil-la, is sung in many churches before Midnight Mass. Dates & details.
Nochevieja & Año Nuevo (New Year's Eve)
Celebrated all over the island with plenty of spectacular firework displays, for New Year's Eve some villages also have live music and dancing. Another must is eating the 12 grapes during the countdown to midnight, a tradition kept throughout Spain. In Palma, the Festa de l'Estendard is celebrated in honour of the Christian conquest of Palma in 1229, with a procession that goes from the town hall to the cathedral. Dates & details.
