Mallorca Cycling Challenge - Womens
The first of the big cycle races of the year
This edition of the Womens Mallorca Cycling Challenge sees an international line up of top cyclists competing in three separate races.
The prestigious Challenge Mallorca introduced a dedicated women's cycling competition in 2024, marking a milestone in European racing history. While men have raced here since the 1990s, the Women’s Mallorca Cycling Challenge offers female riders a chance to shake off winter training and race in relatively warm conditions, away from the frigid temperatures of northern Europe.
The three-day event is designed to test versatility and teamwork, resembling a stage race without cumulative times. Teams submit a roster for all three days, strategically selecting riders best suited for each race. This unique squad approach allows riders to focus on the races that play to their strengths, promising varied and thrilling lineups each day. Racing fans can tune in to the final hour of each race to witness the decisive moments.
Race Breakdown:
- Day 1: Trofeo Felantix-Colonia de Sant Jordi
Likely to be a sprint finish, this race offers a challenging twist with a late climb that could thin out the pack before descending to the finish. - Day 2: Trofeo Palma Femina
Packed with late climbs, this day promises high-energy action and should showcase the climbers and all-rounders in the field. - Day 3: Trofeo Binissalem-Andratx
Concluding with a fierce uphill charge to the line, this stage will be similar to the Tour Down Under’s Willunga Hill, setting the stage for an explosive finish.
The Women's Mallorca Cycling Challenge is not only a new addition to the racing calendar but also an opportunity to preview emerging talent in European cycling.
