Renovations to four hotels lying on the one kilometre stretch behind the beach promenade in the newly named Calvia Beach Resort have been completed.

The southern end of Magaluf has getting a make-over, with the arrival of swanky beach club Nikki Beach and the trendy Beach House and Wave House Hotels. International hotel chain Melia Group have been instrumental in the re-branding of Magaluf as Calvia Beach Resort.

The current renovations have been a join venture between Melia Group and Evertaas Group who together have made an investment of €20.7m. The 50/50 venture consisted of Melia Hotel group renovating the Antillas Barbados hotel (which has 757 rooms) and Evertaas refreshing 230 apartments in the Mallorca Beach Hotel.

As well as this, investment has been directed towards improving the environment that surrounds the hotels by linking the hotels with a beachfront pedestrianised walkway. Over the next four to five years, cafes, restaurants and bars will be added to this area. This will create a better social experience and will enhance the economic sustainability of the area.

There are also plans to tap into the winter tourism market such as hiking, cycling and golf to keep the resort going throughout the whole year. Special winter holiday deals will offer these activities as part of the holiday.

Melia says the upgrades have had a very good reception from both clients and residents. Local residents in particular have appreciated the renovations, including the 300 new jobs that have been created.
