Palma city council have announced plans to allocate €6m to promote the city in 2013. The intention of the Tourism Foundation is to boost Palma's tourism to keep it going throughout the whole year.

€800,000 of the money will be in cash and the rest will be put towards plane tickets, hotel accommodation and special events such as the NIt de Borne, to be held at the end of November. €10,000 will be spent on reforming building facades in the city. It is hoped that this investment will generate jobs and help with economic recovery.

The money is being raised by the Tourism Foundation which currently has 27 members, comprising of both public and private organisations. The official registration of the Tourism Foundation will be completed by the time the current Majorcan Tourism Institute has been dissolved in the new year.

The number of companies in the association is due to increase to around 30 in January 2013. Each member of the foundation will bring €100,000 towards this new investment.
