Mallorca is no stranger to Ironman competitions, as it hosts the annual Ironman 70.3 in May (a half Ironman), but this weekend saw the Island host its first ever full length Ironman in truly spectacular style.

With the sunshine, warm & calm waters and pleasant temperatures, the conditions were perfect for the first edition of this event which started in the port of Alcudia on Saturday morning. And after an impressive 8 and a half hours of racing the win was taken by Tim Don of Great Britain with Spanish athlete Miguel Angel Fidalgo 4 minutes back in second place and Mike Aigroz from Switzerland in third place.

In the women's race Eimear Millan from Ireland pulled out all the stops in the final marathon to over take the leader Dede Griesbauer and win by a fantastic 2 minutes and 52 seconds.
