Spending two weeks in the Balearic Islands, first in Magaluf in Mallorca and then the second week in San Antonio in Ibiza.

On Monday 10th August the two officers will be in full British uniform and will join the Spanish police as they patrol the streets of Magaluf, known to many British holiday makers as 'Shagaluf'. Both the resorts, Magaluf and San Antonio, have a reputation for attracting young British holidaymakers who engage in binge drinking, sometimes drug taking and general anti-social behaviour. Each year there are many arrests made for drunken behaviour such as fighting and criminal damage.

British ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, has said: “The presence of UK police officers will help to remind British holidaymakers of the importance of respecting local laws and customs, ensuring that everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday, free from trouble and crime.”

The two week project is begin described as a trial operation so perhaps we will see more British police on Mallorca in the future.
