James Bond director Guy Hamilton passes away in Mallorca
He was 93 years old when he drew his last breath in Palma's Miramar Hospital
Guy Hamilton was behind some of Bond's most memorable films including 'Goldfinger', 'Diamonds Are Forever', 'Live and Let Die' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. His career, which spanned over the 1950s and 1960s, featured other films like 'Funeral in Berlin' with Sir Michael Caine.
The news were confirmed by actor Sir Roger Moore, who tweeted "Incredibly, incredibly saddened to hear the wonderful director Guy Hamilton has gone to the great cutting room in the sky. 2016 is horrid".
Born in Paris in 1922, where his English parents were living, he attended school in England but started his career in France in the 1930s. After working as assistant to Carol Reed, he directed 22 films in total. Hamilton retired to Mallorca in his later years, where he passed away last Wednesday.
