It seems like winter finally came to Mallorca and it even brought snow to the mountains! After a mild and sunny autumn, temperatures dramatically dropped last weekend reaching below zero in the Serra de Tramuntana.

On average, snow only falls around 14 days per year on the island and it rarely hits the coast, although it is not an uncommon sight on the Tramuntana mountains during winter. Its highest peak, Puig Major (1,445 m), received around 3 cm of snow on Sunday.

Meteorologists predict that it will get slightly warmer again this week but, due to strong winds, it will still feel quite cold. Skies will remain clear although there can be some rainfalls, even turning to snow over 800 m.
