Terrae is defined in their own words as a way of ‘being and doing’. This is an ethical, visionary project focussed on the land, working with local producers, where creativity and audacity are all fundamental components. Chef David Rivas is the mastermind behind the restaurant and the vision. Creative, entrepreneurial and inspired from his native Venezuela, he learned about the importance of sustainability and recycling in Norway, which led to the zero waste and chemicals concept in the restaurant.

The menu changes almost daily, based on what the small producers of the island offer. The 8-step Omakase menu showcases a variety of dishes rooted in local inspiration and is complemented by expertly paired Mallorcan wines. Notable dishes include the lamb, the Cap Roig local fish, plus inventive creations like crunchy leek croquettes and a forward-thinking cactus coca with sobrassada. With a commitment to sustainability and a recent nod from the Michelin and Repsol Guides, the restaurant has relocated to a spacious, rustic-cool venue accommodating over 50 diners. The restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday from 18:30 to 22:30.

“A Michelin experience without the Michelin price. Terrae may have been the best meal we’ve ever had, which may not be convincing for people to hear. However, we’ve dined all over the world seeking out some of the best food and experiences countries have to offer and without a doubt, Terrae is the best value for the money anywhere.

That isn’t to say that it’s cheap or the food is lacking. It’s just a reasonable price for a truly amazing culinary journey led by the chef and his small, hand-picked team that serves nothing but local, responsibly sustainable ingredients (including the wine drink options).

The food is unlike anything I’ve ever had in my life. While dishes may sound or seem familiar, they are reimagined using techniques and nuances that I would have never thought to consider for the dish itself. With a constantly rotating menu that highlights the seasonal offerings of Majorca, this isn’t a one-hit-wonder of a restaurant that will eventually hit stagnation.

The staff is not only friendly and knowledgeable of all their food, but they treat each table with compassion towards dietary needs and restrictions without judgement. Each table feels like a VIP experience and never has a request that cannot be accommodated.

Terrae is without a doubt the best Mallorca has to offer and is worth the trip to experience this once-in-a-lifetime concept.
